The Story of Detecnicks
Our family business Detecnicks was born in 1996 and started by Nick and Laura Charman after Nick saw a gap in the market for his beloved hobby. He wanted more people to be able to enjoy metal detecting and at the time there was very little information and products available - hence starting DetecNICKS ;)
As the business grew, Luke their son, joined in 2002 and quickly learnt the trade to become the expert he is today. Today Luke is now the owner and sales manager. He continues to gain knowledge of all the prdoducts available, building great relationships with all the major metal detecting brands and local clubs. Nick and Laura have now retired, and Luke has been joined by his wife Tasha who both continue to make the world of Metal Detecting accessible to everyone of all ages and capabilities no matter their budget.
If you're lucky enough to live close to us on the south coast, pop down to our shop in Sunny Bognor Regis and you may be met by our super-friendly Labrador Zola who sometimes joins us at Metal Detecting Rallies such as Detectival in both 2024 and 2025. She loves all the fuss and attention she can get and is Detecnicks very own Mascot!
Our opening hours are:
Mondays to Fridays : 9am - 5pm
Saturdays : 9am - 1pm
Sundays & Bank Holidays: CLOSED
The perfect detector is a myth, if there was one perfect machine all the other manufacturers would be out of business. Some offer facilities that require a degree to operate them, others are "switch on and go", you get what you want from a machine when you talk to us. Just ask for Luke our Sales Manager for the best expertise and advice!
